Around 1978 Bos en Pingo was first used as a camping site. After years of changing owners and destination, Gerard and Marijke took over the campsite from the previous owner in 2015. The former manager of the plot kept sheep on the grounds of the Poelpleats. Gerard regularly came to the Poelpleats because of his profession as a sheep shearer. He was always attached to the terrain and the location and together with Marijke he decided to take the plunge.

The campsite has a large playground for children and young and old can cool down in the summer in the nearby outdoor pool, it Paradyske. Furthermore, there is a beautiful Pingo on the site, a small lake created by the thawing of the soil at the end of the ice age. Fishing enthusiasts can throw out their fishing rod here. The campsite is also characterized by its spacious pitches, although this is certainly not at the expense of the coziness and conviviality of the campsite.
Bos en Pingo is situated on the edge of the cosy Kollum. All primary facilities can be found here, as well as a cosy, historic village centre. Thanks to excellent public transport connections, you can reach cities such as Leeuwarden, Groningen and Dokkum within half an hour, or the boat to Ameland and Schiermonnikoog. The real nature lover also has nothing to complain about. The campsite itself is already surrounded by nature, but by bike you’ll be on the edge of the Lauwersmeer National Park in no time.
